Johan Djourou and Gideon Jung most likely have to start at centre-back again, with Emir Spahic a major doubt and Cléber still injured. Albin Ekdal could return to the squad, but will most likely have to settle for a spot on the bench for now. Up front, Bobby Wood returns from a three-match ban, but with Michael Gregoritsch in fine form in the last two matches, Wood could remain on the bench as well.

Artem Fedetskyy should replace the injured Immanuel Höhn at right-back again. Änis Ben-Hatira is an option to start in attacking midfield, if he recovers from an ankle injury in time. Up front, Antonio Colak and Hamburg loanee Sven Schipplock both have a chance of starting.

Darmstadt have lost four straight Bundesliga matches. They picked up all of their eight points at home so far though and will always put on a good fight at the Böllenfalltor.

Hamburg have regained confidence after back-to-back draws against Hoffenheim and Bremen and are finally finding their rhythm in attack. Their defence is often caught out of position though and they need to get back into shape more quickly when they lose the ball.
