Arsenal are expected to be without Hector Bellerin for the whole of November, which gives Arsene Wenger a problem at right-back. Carl Jenkinson has played their recently, but Rob Holding or Shkodran Mustafi could be moved out to the right. Alexis Sanchez played for Chile on Tuesday despite being injured and scored twice before being taken off. His fitness may be a doubt for Saturday, in which case Olivier Giroud is ready to play.

Jose Mourinho will be without Eric Bailly, Antonio Valencia and Chris Smalling at the back, with all three sidelined through injury. Phil Jones made his first appearance since January last time out and remains an option at the back if Luke Shaw cannot regain his fitness in time. In this instance, Daley Blind would move to left-back and Jones would partner Marcos Rojo at the heart of the defence. Wayne Rooney picked up a knee injury on duty with England but has been passed fit and is free to play against Arsenal.

Both sides come into this fixture with a number of player absences to deal with. Manchester United’s defence has been butchered ahead of this huge clash with Arsenal, while they will also be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Captain Wayne Rooney is also a huge question mark. Arsenal, meanwhile, will be vulnerable at right-back without Hector Bellerin, while Alexis Sanchez’s involvement will depend on how he recovers from international duty.

Jose Mourinho has never lost a competitive fixture against Arsene Wenger, a run that spans 14 matches. In fact, Arsenal have failed to score against a Mourinho side since 2007, a run that stretches across five matches. However, United are not in great shape coming into this fixture. They have failed to win each of their last two home league matches.

Arsenal, meanwhile, haven’t lost in any competitions since the opening day of the league season. Since then, they have won 12 of 16 matches. The Gunners are certainly coming into this match in better form, but it’s such a difficult game to call with so many factors to consider. Not only does Wenger have a poor record against Mourinho, Arsenal haven’t won at Old Trafford in the league since 2006.
