The easy portion of Florida State’s conference schedule comes to an end Saturday when the 15th-ranked Seminoles visit Syracuse in ACC action. Florida State faced Louisville, North Carolina, Miami, Wake Forest and Clemson in the early portions of their ACC schedule before enjoying a three-game slate against the bottom-feeders of the ACC Atlantic Division. The Seminoles nipped North Carolina State and routed Boston College in their last two games and they likely will be in good shape against a hobbled Orange squad.

Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey is “probably doubtful” for this weekend’s contest after suffering an undisclosed injury to his head/neck area on November 5. Florida State, meanwhile, finally enjoyed a stress-free victory in last week’s 45-7 trouncing of BC.

The Seminoles have won four of their last five games with only a three-point loss against Clemson standing in their way of a five-game winning streak heading into this weekend. Dalvin Cook ran for 108 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles, giving him six rushing TDs in his last three games, not to mention at least 100 yards rushing in six of his last seven outings. Deondre Francois passed for three touchdowns and did not throw an interception for the fifth time in his last seven contests.

The Orange have lost eight of the nine all-time meetings between the teams and appear unlikely to improve that mark unless their offense can wake up. In Dungey’s place, Zack Mahoney threw for only 190 yards with one touchdown and one interception against the Wolfpack, while the Orange rushing attack mustered a total of 28 yards on 28 carries.

Syracuse K Cole Murphy had missed seven of his previous nine field-goal attempts before going 2-of-2 against N.C. State.
