Rolando Aarons is again ruled out for Newcastle, while Massadio Haidara and Rob Elliot are again doubts here. Rafa Benitez could ring the changes after a disappointing defeat to Blackburn. Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles, Vurnon Anita, Jack Colback, Mohamed Diame and Dwight Gayle are in line to start.

Mike Phelan has a number of injury concerns to contend with ahead of the welcome of Newcastle, but Andrew Robertson made his return from injury and could start. Adama Diomande could come into the side as well after performing admirably following his introduction from the bench. David Meyler may also come in in place of Ryan Mason, who is a doubt.

Hull were held to a 1-1 draw with West Brom at the weekend, but are now unbeaten in their last two at home having succumbed to four successive defeats at the KCOM Stadium before then. They do struggle at home to Newcastle, however, having lost their last three meetings with the Magpies on home turf.

Rafa Benitez’s side fell to a 1-0 home loss to lowly Blackburn at the weekend and the Spaniard will demand an immediate response at Hull. They had won their previous nine in all competitions, so should be confident of a return to winning ways.

Newcastle are favourites to secure victory here and should earn a semi final spot at Hull’s expense.
