• Mario Gotze hasn’t travelled to Madrid having picked up a knee injury and joins Roman Burki, Raphael Guerreiro and Sven Bender on the sidelines. Neven Subotic is still recovering from injury and is unlikely to feature, while Marcel Schmelzer, and Erik Durm are doubts. Marco Reus will be assessed tomorrow after he came down with a cold.

• Real Madrid are without the injured Gareth Bale, but Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that he is the only absence. That means Alvaro Morata and Toni Kroos are available following injury. Lucas Vazquez is set to replace Bale with Zidane expected to make minimal changes – if any – to the side that drew 1-1 with Barcelona at the weekend.

• Real Madrid need to win in order to secure top spot in Group F. Los Blancos currently sit two points behind Borussia Dortmund, but have won three of their last four home meetings with the Bundesliga side, drawing the other.

• This promises to be an entertaining encounter at the Bernabeu, with a repeat of the scoreline in the reverse fixture a possibility.
