• CSKA Moscow were held to a draw by FC Rubin Kazan last weekend and are surely hoping to return to winning ways against the Orenburg outfit next time out. Despite their recent inconsistent performances, the Armeitsy are firm favourites to win Wednesday’s match.

• FC Orenburg suffered their seventh defeat of the season when they visited Bashkortostan on Friday and need to at least claw a point from their upcoming match to keep their heads above the water at the bottom of the league table.

• FC Zenit succumbed to a late 2-1 defeat during their visit to Krasnodar on Sunday and saw FC Spartak Moscow open a six-point gap at the top of the league table. Mircea Lucescu will need to rally the troops ahead of the upcoming match against the Bashkortostan outfit, in order to quickly return to winning ways.

• FC Ufa have won their last two matches and didn’t concede any goals in that time. Viktor Goncharenko’s men are extremely motivated and are surely hoping to replicate last season’s draw at Petrovsky on Wednesday.
