[10:32 PM] Oklahoma State v. #4 North Carolina

What will be the GAME RESULT?

Oklahoma State: Wins or Single Digit Loss

#4 North Carolina: Wins By Double Digits

One of the most surprising teams in the country, Oklahoma State faces its toughest test of the young season Tuesday as the Cowboys face fourth-ranked North Carolina in the semifinals of the Maui Invitational. Oklahoma State is averaging 104.8 points but will be hard-pressed to reach that mark against the Tar Heels, whose imposing frontline continues to impress.

Sophomore guard Jawun Evans dazzled with 35 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds in the Cowboys’ 98-90 win over Connecticut on Monday, while Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks combined for 42 points and 16 rebounds in the Tar Heels’ 104-61 rout of Division II Chaminade

After struggling from beyond the arc in wins over Campbell, Central Arkansas and New Orleans, the Cowboys were 12-of-20 from 3-point range against UConn. Underwood’s squad will need another strong perimeter game against the Tar Heels, who outrebounded Chaminade by 29 and feature a deep frontcourt that ranks among the best in the country.

Jeffrey Carroll and Phil Forte III had 18 points apiece against UConn, but the two veterans were overshadowed by the play of Evans, who is averaging a team-high 26.3 points and 6.3 assists while shooting 53.1 percent from the field. Senior forward Leyton Hammonds is 2-of-13 from 3-point range and fouled out against UConn, and the Cowboys will need a bounce-back effort against the Tar Heels.

Sophomore wing Kenny Williams started Monday for the first time since the season opener at Tulane and had seven points, four rebounds and three steals while senior guard Nate Britt came off the bench and contributed eight points, three assists and three steals. Freshman guard Brandon Robinson received three stitches to his lip after taking an elbow to the mouth in Monday’s first half, but he returned midway through the second half and finished with four assists. Another freshman, center Tony Bradley, continued his strong start with 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

Tar Heels coach Roy Williams is 20-8 against Oklahoma State, all while at Kansas.
