Current odds:

New Mexico State: (TBD)

Kansas: (TBD)

The line for the game is Kansas by 15 points.

The main catalysts in Tuesday’s offensive explosion were JoJo Zamora (8.3 points), who finished with a career-high 27 points on 9-of-10 from the floor and 6-of-6 beyond the arc, and Ivan Aurrecoechea (11.6 points, 5.8 rebounds), who posted his first double-double with personal bests of 23 points and 11 boards. Ten other Aggies average at least 10 minutes, and none play more than the 24.4 minutes afforded to Ohio State transfer A.J. Harris, who leads the team in scoring (12.3 points) while shooting 47.1 percent from the field. Eli Chuha (9.0, 6.7) is the most likely candidate to take advantage of the absence of Azubuike; the 6-7, 230-pound senior needed only 15 minutes Tuesday to post his first double-double (13 points, 10 boards) since the 2017 WAC title game.

Azubuike is expected to be out at least until the start of Big 12 play on Jan. 2 and Silvio De Sousa remains sidelined as the school and NCAA investigates whether he received impermissible benefits, possibly opening up playing time for 6-10 five-star true freshman David McCormack, who has to play more than 10 minutes in any game. After watching Wofford big man Cameron Jackson expose the Azubuike-less Jayhawks down low for 20-plus minutes, Self credited 6-5 Marcus Garrett for playing a pivotal role in Kansas’ pivotal surge. “Player of the game, without question, was Marcus Garrett. The whole game changed when he started guarding their big. … Soon after he checked in is when we went on a run,” Self told reporters.

Kansas has yielded a total of five fast-break points over its last four games since surrendering 23 against Louisiana on Nov. 16.
