@ #24 Houston Cougars (8-0)

Current odds:

LSU Tigers: (+160)

Houston Cougars: (-180)

The line for this game is Houston by 3.5 points.

• Coach Will Wade hopes to learn something about his LSU team when it travels to No. 22 Houston on Wednesday for its first road game. Wade is expecting a physical game and wants to see how the Tigers react – especially on the boards and on defense – in a tough environment. The Tigers – who have won two straight after losing to Florida State and Oklahoma State in Orlando – should be back to full strength after playing with just nine scholarship players Sunday.

• Houston, which has won 21 straight home games, beat Oklahoma State on the road Saturday to continue its undefeated start. Junior guard Armoni Brooks, who is ranked sixth nationally entering Tuesday with 4.1 made 3-pointers per game, hit seven 3s in the win against the Cowboys.

•  Junior guard Skylar Mays, who has scored in double digits in seven straight games, leads four Tigers in double figures with 13.9 points. Freshman forward Naz Reid adds 12.1 points while sophomore Tremont Waters and freshman Ja’vonte Smart each average 11.4 points. Freshman forward Emmitt Williams, the team’s leading rebounder at 7.1 boards, is expected to return after sitting out Sunday with a busted lip and senior Daryl Edwards (leg) should also be dressed.

• Brooks and senior Corey Davis Jr. lead the Cougars with 16.5 points apiece. Brooks, who is shooting 45.8 percent from the 3-point line, also leads the team with 6.9 rebounds while post players Breaon Brady (7.5 points), Cedrick Alley Jr. (7.4 points) and Brison Gresham (4.5 points) all average at least five boards. Senior guard Galen Robinson Jr. (8.8 points) leads the American Athletic Conference with 6.3 assists and has lost only 13 turnovers in eight starts.

• LSU, which continues its road trip to face Saint Mary’s in Las Vegas for the Neon Hoops Showcase on Saturday, hasn’t won a true road game since Jan. 10, losing its final eight road games last season.

• The teams are meeting for the fourth straight year with the home team winning each time – Houston in overtime in 2015 followed by two LSU home wins.

• Houston, which is tied with Charleston for the nation’s second-longest active home win streak behind only South Dakota State (25), is starting a seven-game homestand that will carry into American Athletic Conference play against Tulsa and Memphis in January.
