• For the second straight year, Villanova junior forward Maddy Siegrist was a unanimous selection to the preseason All-BIG EAST team. Siegrist started all 24 games last season and averaged 22.8 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per contest, while shooting .483 from the field (208-of-431) and .364 from three-point range (43-of-118). She finished the regular season by leading the BIG EAST in both scoring at 23.1 points per game and rebounding at 10.1 rebounds per contest, becoming just the third player in league history to lead the conference in both categories. In the 24 games played in 2020-21, Siegrist tallied 20 points or more in 16 games, including six games of 30 points or more. She also registered a BIG EAST best 13 double-doubles. In 54 career games, Siegrist has scored 20 points or more in 31 of the 54 contests. She also has 24 career double-doubles to her credit. For her efforts last season, Siegrist garnered first team All- BIG EAST honors and Honorable Mention All-American distinction.

• Villanova’s most experienced performer is grad student forward Brianna Herlihy. As a senior in 2020-21, Herlihy averaged 13.8 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per contest which both ranked second on the team. She also shot .488 from the field (122-of-250). For her efforts last season, she was a second team All-BIG EAST selection. In 24 games last year, Herlihy tallied 18 double figure scoring games and four 20-point efforts.

• The Wildcats have added five freshmen to the 2021-22 roster. The five rookies include guards Zanai JonesKaitlyn Orihel, Lucy Olsen, Anahi-Lee Cauley and forward Christina Dalce. The Villanova roster breakdown includes one graduate student, three juniors, three sophomores and five freshmen.

• Some familiar faces feature captains Abby MeyersJulia Cunningham and Maggie Connolly. Cunningham collected Honorable Mention All-Ivy accolades in 2019-20 while Connolly showed statistical improvements in points, rebounds, assists, steals, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage that season. Meyers has appeared in 51 career games highlighted by an Ivy League All-Tournament selection in 2018.

• New faces include the Class of 2025 along with Chet Nweke and Kaitlyn Chen from the Class of 2024.
