The Musketeers cruised to an 82-61 victory over in-state opponent Ohio University on Wednesday night. Sophomore Paul Scruggs led Xavier with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting and turned in career bests of eight assists and four steals. Sophomore Naji Marshall remains the team’s scoring leader for the season at 13.6 points per game and is second in rebounding at 7.0 per game.

The Bearcats made their way past Cincinnati-area opponent Northern Kentucky 78-65 on Tuesday night with junior Jarron Cumberland scoring 12 points, slightly below his team-best season average of 14.9 points per game. Cumberland had 15 points against Xavier in last year’s game, but the Musketeers are likely to focus on him more defensively this time. Senior Cane Broome also has experience against Xavier, scoring 16 points in 2017.
