[7:01 PM] Georgia Tech @ Penn State

Who will WIN this matchup?

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (4-1)

@ Penn State Nittany Lions (4-3)

The line for this game is Penn State by 7 points.

Teams among the least experienced in college basketball meet Tuesday when Georgia Tech visits Penn State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Nittany Lions started three freshmen in the season opener for the first time in school history, while research by ESPN showed that the Yellow Jackets are the least experienced team in Division I.

The 6-4 Okogie converted 12-of-20 shots from the field and 13-of-18 from the foul line against the Green Wave to raise his scoring average to 19 points per game to go with 5.6 rebounds. Perhaps the biggest surprise for the Yellow Jackets has been 6-11 junior Ben Lammers, who is averaging 17.6 points on 64.3 percent shooting, 10.8 rebounds and a national-best 5.6 blocks after playing a reserve role last season. Senior guard Josh Heath, expected to be the starting point guard this season, returned Saturday after serving a suspension and handed out five assists in 23 minutes off the bench.

The 6-8 Watkins shot 7-of-14 against the Colonials and added eight rebounds, and he is averaging 9.6 points to go along with team bests of 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks in 23.6 minutes. The 6-3 Carr, playing the point, is tied with junior guard Shep Garner in scoring (14.3), and he chips in 4.6 rebounds and four assists per game. Stevens, a high school teammate of Carr in Philadelphia, averages 12.9 points, has been to the line a team-high 35 times and shoots 91.4 percent from the charity stripe.

While the freshmen have played key roles, Garner, the leading returning scorer (14.8) from last season, is averaging 2.6 3-pointers and three assists despite being moved from point guard to shooting guard.

Okogie’s 38 points were the most by any Tech player since Kenny Anderson scored 42 against Howard on Jan. 2, 1991, and tied for the seventh-highest single-game scoring total in program history.

After the Penn State game, Georgia Tech has two more difficult road contests against Tennessee and VCU.
