• Wolfsburg took the decision to sack Mark van Bommel last week with Florian Kohfeldt taking over the reins. The 39-year-old oversaw a 2-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen on his first game in charge.

• Salzburg are yet to lose a competitive game this season, but away from home, they have failed to win three of their last five. They have been fairly ropey defensively on their travels, too, keeping just two clean sheets in their last six.

• Wolfsburg enjoyed that new manager bounce at Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend and will hope to exact revenge upon Salzburg after losing 3-1 in the reverse fixture.
