• Chelsea made hard work of Championship side Barnsley but came away with a 1-0 win, scoring with their only shot on target, to advance to the quarter-finals where they will face Sheffield United. They have kept four clean sheets in five matches under Thomas Tuchel but are yet to really get going in attack.

• Newcastle have shown signs of improvement of late but the absence of Callum Wilson, not just for this game but in the coming weeks, is a massive blow for Steve Bruce’s side. Wilson has directly contributed to 60% of Newcastle’s Premier League goals this season, a greater share than any other single player in the league this season.

• Chelsea have won each of their last eight home matches against Newcastle and should continue that streak here. With Wilson injured, another home sheet seems likely too.
